Having spent much of my life in The Land of 10,000 Lakes, water scarcity was a new concept to me. Inspired by Joan Didion's essay Holy Water, this project is “interested [...] in the movement of water through aqueducts and siphons and pumps and forebays and afterbays and weirs and drains”. This “plumbing on the grand scale” became my guide in exploring the vast landscapes of California.
