Something strange was going on in Solano County, California. A mystery company was buying up huge chunks of land. Conor Dougherty, writing for the New York Times, broke the story and revealed that some big names in tech were behind it all. Soon after, the company went public under the name California Forever with its plans to build a city on what is now farmland. The idea was received with mixed reviews and lawsuits were filed. I spent 4 days driving around Solano County, taking pictures of the area, local landowners, and the CEO of California Forever. You can read about this in the NYT article “The Farmers Had What the Billionaires Wanted”.
